Honestly speaking, I can't be sure of that (since I'm a guy) but I don't reckon it's really an issue. I don't have any real problems with the design of the armors, but some do look pretty hard to differentiate (from the others) and I'd prefer armors to be more distinguishable.

Anyway, I feel that armor design should have a wider range of variety but needs to stay with its intended theme. Variety meaning, a collection of armor sets (for each chapter) that range from a conventional-character-norm to fanciful designs to suit different tastes (some players do prefer conventional designs). Intended theme, meaning that the design of the armor should be aligned closely to what it was named and should share similar elements between male and female versions. Elementalists armors in Nightfall looks pretty bad, it just doesn't feel very, well, "Elementalist".
